Dubai’s Stellar Rise: Surpassing Global Cities in Livability and Prosperity in 2024

Dubai has achieved a remarkable feat by outshining cities like San Francisco, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Washington, Melbourne, Zurich, Sydney, and more in the highly regarded World’s Best Cities Report by Resonance. This prestigious report places Dubai in the exclusive company of the world’s top 10 cities for livability, lovability, and prosperity.

London leads the rankings, followed by Paris, New York, Tokyo, Singapore, Dubai, San Francisco, Barcelona, Amsterdam, and Seoul, making Dubai’s presence in this elite group all the more impressive.

The evaluation in this report is based on three key indices: livability, lovability, and prosperity, taking into account factors such as walkability, iconic landmarks, recreational amenities, airport connectivity, cultural richness, educational opportunities, business presence, startup culture, and more.

Dubai, celebrated for its iconic developments like the Palm Jumeirah and the Burj Khalifa, secures the eighth spot in the “Attractions” subcategory. This is attributed to its array of extravagant malls, mesmerizing aquariums, indoor ski parks, themed entertainment venues, and family-friendly resorts, all of which contribute to its undeniable charm.

Within the Arab world rankings, Abu Dhabi claims the second spot on the global stage at 25th place, followed by Riyadh at 28th, Doha at 36th, Kuwait at 58th, and Muscat at 89th.

Chris Fair, President and CEO of Resonance Consultancy, highlights that cities worldwide are reevaluating their desirability criteria for living, working, and leisure in the post-pandemic era. The emphasis is shifting towards outdoor spaces and enhancing urban experiences, reflecting the changing preferences of global citizens.
